It can be helpful in meditation to give the mind something to hold on to so that it may become free of distractions. So’ham works with the natural sound of the breath that is constantly moving through the body, it means “I am That.” By linking the mind, breath and the so’ham mantra together, we can begin to practice stillness and begin tuning in to our inner voice, giving that voice a little more space and light.
