This bandha’s purpose is to prolong life and prevent disease. Stimulating the throat chakra, this practice may still the movement of Prana and halt waves of thought.
How: Sit erect with the back of the head over the small of the back. Full exhale, followed by a full inhale from the pelvic floor. Keeping the collarbones broad, tuck the chin towards the dimple of the throat, maintaining a straight spine. With your focus at the throat, direct the vital energy found there towards the navel. Hold for 3-5 secs. Smooth, gentle exhale. This completes one round. Practice 5-10 rounds for one month before integrating into Tribandha.
On a subtle level, you may visualize pressing energy down from the throat to the abdomen.
